On Sunday 18th August an ensemble group from the Darwin City Brass Band performed at the annual commemoration service held at Commalie Creek Airfield. Church attendee's enjoyed the ensemble work, in a truely unique location.

On 15 August 1945, the last air mission from Australian soil departed Coomalie Creek Airfield, only to be called back from over the Timor Sea when news came through that the war was over.
