Annual Awards for 2023

The end of year Christmas function for the Darwin City Brass Band was held on Saturday 9 December.

The band's christmas function is an opportunity for recogntion and the annual awards ceremony. A highlight this year was the appointment of 2 new life members. 

Barbara Eather Bill Buckley Small Congratulations to Barbara Eather and Bill Buckley, who were conferred as the newest life members of the band.

The five trophies are:

Bandperson of the Year

Name: The Lord Mayor’s Trophy for Bandperson of the Year

Purpose: To acknowledge and reward a band member who has assisted the band and/or has contributed significantly to the operations of the band

2023 Recipient: Barbara Eather

Musician of the Year

Name: The Frank Roberts Memorial Award for Musician of the Year

Purpose: To acknowledge and reward a senior band member who has a good attendance record, who has participated diligently at rehearsals and performances and has contributed musically to the best of their present ability and has demonstrated an overall positive attitude

Best All-Round Junior Bandperson

Name: The Christmas in Darwin Association Best All-Round Junior Bandperson

Purpose: To acknowledge and reward a junior or learner band member who has a very good attendance record, has worked hard at their playing skills and in assisting others and who has been a positive role model for other juniors/learners. Involvement in other musical activities outside the Darwin City Brass Band can also be taken into account in awarding this trophy.

Junior Attendance Award

Name: Junior Attendance Award

Purpose: To acknowledge, reward and encourage the junior player who has the best attendance record.

Most Improved Junior Player

Name: The Lord Mayor’s Trophy for Most Improved Junior Player

Purpose: To acknowledge, reward and encourage the junior/learner player who has improved the most.
